Henrico, Va. Jan. 17, 2019 – Who is the special teacher in your life? The REB Awards for Teaching Excellence provide a tangible, public way to recognize outstanding teachers in Henrico County Public Schools – and give them the means to continue growing. The Community Foundation’s yearly awards identify, recognize and support teaching excellence in the Richmond area. Honorees receive professional development grants of $4,000 to $12,000, given to teachers who have distinguished themselves by their inspiring classroom performance.
Through a nomination process, approximately 15 outstanding teachers are selected each year to receive cash grants to support professional development activities.
Nominations are invited from parents, students, educators and the community at large. Award recipients have earned graduate degrees, climbed mountains, traced their ancestors and met peers from around the world – all to reignite their own passion for learning and to pass it on to their students.
Nominations must be made online. A letter in support of the nomination must be written by another individual and submitted online with the nomination.
Who:The Community Foundation invites nominations from students, parents, colleagues, school staff and administrators (except for the school principal), and the community at large.
When: Nominations and letters of support must be submitted by Feb. 25 at 5 p.m.

Come join Holman for the 1st Annual Huskie Open Golf Tournament! It will be held Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Hunting Hawk Golf Club. Registration Begins at 12:30; Shotgun Start 2:00.
Cost is $400.00 per foursome or $100.00 per golfer. *Fee includes boxed lunch, green fee, golf cart, practice balls, door prizes!
Parents, students, alumni, teachers, and friends are invited for a day of golf, fun, and prizes while supporting the Holman Athletic Department. Golfers may sign up as foursomes, individuals, or groups of 2 or 3. We will be selling mulligans, power drives, and the HMS PTA will have 50/50 tickets, all available for $5 each at the course. Funds raised from the tournament will benefit the 12 Holman athletic teams, going towards uniforms, equipment, field maintenance, and more.

The Children’s Hospital of Richmond and is the only facility of its kind that is equipped with specialists for adolescents in the Richmond Area. Their foundation is currently working to fund and recruit nationally known neuro-oncologists to oversee brain treatment for pediatrics. They are also beginning construction to expand and add a new dental clinic to help serve children in on community that are in need of dental services. This past December we had a fundraiser and as a school raised $670, but would like to raise more to help this worth non-profit, even a donation of $5 can make an impact. Henrico, Va. Oct. 1, 2018 – The REB Awards for Distinguished Educational Leadership provide a tangible, public way to recognize an outstanding principal at a Henrico County school. The Community Foundation’s yearly awards identify, recognize and support leadership excellence in the Richmond area. Honorees receive an unrestricted $7,500 cash grant, and $7,500 to be used for school initiatives. Eligible are principals from public schools in Henrico, Chesterfield and Hanover counties and the city of Richmond. Nominees should have served in their current positions for at least three years.

Who: The Community Foundation invites nominations from students, parents, colleagues, school personnel and administrators and the community at large. Nominations should take the form of a completed nomination form, downloaded from the foundation’s website, a one- to two-page typeset letter describing the nominee’s distinguished educational leadership. It can be accompanied by up to three one-page letters of support. Principals may not nominate themselves.
When: Nominations must be mailed or hand-delivered, and must be received by 5 p.m. on Nov. 8. Emailed or faxed nominations are not accepted.

Applications are available for any sixth grade student interested in applying to the IB Middle Years Program at Moody Middle School for the 2019-2020 school year. Stop by the school counseling office to request an application and/or get more information about the IB program. There will be an open house at Moody Middle on Tuesday, October 16. Applications are due Friday, November 16.
